Description:

This war between England and France devastated the French countryside and started in 1347. Sentiments of patriotism and nationalism arose from the English side, powering parliament and taxes funding the war. This was also one of the formative events fueling centuries of political hatred or outright war between these two nations. (Palmer 51)
