jul 12, 1701 - War of the Spanish Succession started
Description:
Searching for peace, the French people got themselves into another war. In 1701, England, Austria, the Dutch Republic, Portugal, and several German and Italian states joined together to prevent the union of French and Spanish thrones. The War of the Spanish Succession lasted until 1714 when the Treaty of Utrecht was signed. Louis’ grandson was allowed to remain king of Spain so long as the thrones of France and Spain were not united. This ended up leading to great success for Great Britain as well as Spain in the trade industry.
