feb 17, 1667 - Louis invaded the Netherlands

Description:

In an attempt to expand French boundaries, Louis invaded the Spanish Netherlands. As he tried to expand he gained 12 different towns and as he was encouraged by the results, he led an army into the Dutch Netherlands (1672). His expansion ended in 1678 with the Treaty of Nijmegen. However, in the treaty they also gained several towns and a region called Franche-Comte. Louis went on to try to fight additional wars but those unfortunately did not work out.
