mar 25, 1598 - Relationship of King Henry IV and the Edict of Nantes

Description:

In 1598, King Henry of Navarre tried to heal French wounds by declaring that the Huguenots could live in peace in France and they could open up their own houses of worship. This idea of worship was called the Edict of Nantes. Henry put in his time and effort into rebuilding France’s prosperity by restoring the French monarchy and welcoming peace into France. However, Henry garnered mixed emotions from the catholics even though that he gave up Protestantism for Catholic beliefs. This was due to the fact that Henry ran a war-weary country, which eventually led to his death in 1610.
