Happened in the year 1521 when the pope excommunicated him and he was forced to appear before the king Charles The V at the Diet Of Worms. At the time he was declared a heretic but the German Royal family protected him and his ideas. This allowed for the further spread of the reformation throughout all of Europe. Created the peace of Augsburg
