feb 28, 1985 - Postman - Peek a Boo World

Description:

While Postman loved the idea of the television, he feared that it would bring an age where discussion would be replaced by different forms of entertainment and that man would become passive and stupid, as Aldous Huxley had predicted in Brave New World.

In Postman's book "Amusing Ourselves to Death" we can see a relation to the modern day where many suffer from a dependent relationship with video games as well as those who blatantly oppose the medium without any real research done into the impact that video games can have on people. The observers of both sides of the ever raging war on this medium eat up the controversy and conflict, passively enjoying what happening without critically thinking about it or ascertaining what the future may hold, heaven forbid actually doing something to shape said future.
