Description:

A french king claimed the throne of Naples in 1494 and began invading Italian territory. With their safety no longer guaranteed many Italian artists fled to northern Europe and further spread the influence of the renaissance. Northern artists and scholars who were studying in Italy also returned to their homes taking renaissance ideas back with them. Because of this the northern renaissance began in earnest.
