In 1504 Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa which is to date the most famous piece of art ever made. It demonstrated an understanding of details, facial expressions, and perspective. Since it was painted it has inspired many to try and incorporate some of the techniques used to create it. The painting has inspired many other well known artists such as Raphael Sonti and set an entirely new standard for the painted portrait.Added to timeline:
