Pervasive Animation
Description:
Suzanne Buchan, a Professor of Animation Aesthetics, and her theory engage with the debates around the crisis in film studies- acknowledging the historical neglect of animation as digital animation moves apart from the artistic legacy of animation and replaces celluloid formats (celluloid - a traditional form of animation, using a transparent sheet on which objects are drawn or painted). Similar to Wertham's approach, she talks about the division between newer methods versus the originals and how it does not capture the same feeling of animation that once was.
