Pinwheel, a TV program that ran (1977-79) in Columbus, Ohio, was one of the few programs where preschoolers had content to watch through a new TV system called QUBE.xx.
Pinwheel was re-launched as Nickelodeon on April 1st, 1979, and has declared this as its official launch year. The shows were a mix of live-action and animation. After struggling financially in 1984 and going through the process of re-branding, it became the dominant channel in children's programming for the following 25 years.
