Created by Max Fleischer with support from Grim Natqick, Betty was a popular yet slightly controversial character due to the character's persona of women, specifically going off of a "Jazz Age Flapper". Despite having to be toned down due to this controversy, she became one of the best-known and popular cartoon characters in the world as well as one of the first most famous "sex symbols" of the animated screen. She was a prime influence for the creation of the Hays Code, otherwise known as the Motion Picture Production Code.
