The time of the book of Ruth is here estimated based on a few factors. The main one being that Nahshon, the grandfather of Boaz, one the prince of the Tribe of Judah that took the first census of Israel after they left Egypt, as given in the Bible. Given this fact Nahshon would have been in the generation that died in the wilderness.
The son of Nahshon, Salmon, would likely have been in the generation that crossed Jordan, and there are some theories that Salmon married Rahad, the harlot of Jericho.
Given these two facts, Boaz, who later married Ruth, would likely have been born in Caanan after the conquest of Joshua. As he is already an established man I assume he is in his early to mid 40's when he married Ruth. This places the marriage approximately 45 years after Israel crossed the Jordan.
