jan 1, 1820 - Missouri Compromise

Description:

The Missouri Compromise did three things: It admitted Missouri as a slave state, admitted Maine as a free state, and prohibited slavery north of a specific latitude. The importance in this was the prevention of many from enslavement. This allowed some people to form some sense of American identity, even if discrimination was still very prominent.
