With westward expansion due to Manifest Destiny, new states were being founded and developed; one of which was the state of Illinois. As with any new state, Illinois needed cities, homes, and buildings of other varieties, which required land and resources, evidently killing or displacing the area’s flora and fauna.Added to timeline:
