When the Babylonians conquered the south land, Judah, in about 586 B.C., they took thousands of people to faraway Babylon. “According to the Bible, some Jews, such as Daniel, became important people in the Babylonian empire.” (p.g 184). However, most of the Jews wanted to return to their homeland. The exile meaning the separation from one’s homeland, had lasted for 70. The Jews were forced to stay there for several decades until a Persian king, Cyrus the Great, allowed them to return to Jerusalem and rebuild their destroyed temple. To say the truth the Babylonian conquering was an important event in the Jewish history.
