The War of 1812 did not resolve any of the conflicts that started it (British impressment, United States maritime laws). Amidst the tragic burning of Washington and the many defeats to the British (ie. Battle of Queenston Heights, the British navy at Chesapeake Bay) the war brought nationalism and patriotism to America, particularly after the Battle of Lake Champlain and the Battle of New Orleans.Added to timeline:
