jun 25, 1950 - Korean War
Description:
After communist North Korea, with the help of the Soviet Union, captured the South Korean capital Seoul, the United States felt the need to assist South Korea. In 1950, President Truman sent troops to aid the South Korean war effort, in order to halt the potential communist expansion in eastern Asia. In 1953, the two sides agreed to end the war. This war further complicated the United States contentious relationship with the Soviet Union.
