Description:
President James K. Polk wanted to acquire Mexican land, however needed a reason to attack them. He sought to provoke the Mexicans into attacking first, so the war would be one of retaliation as opposed to aggression. When the United States army won, they acquired: Nevada, parts of New Mexico and Arizona, Utah, California, Western Colorado, and set the border at Rio Grande all is exchange for 15 million dollars.
