sep 28, 1300 BC - The Ten Commandements

Description:

The Exodus says that during the journey of the Israelites, they have stopped next to the Mountain of Sinai. Moses traveled up the mountain to speak to God. God gave Moses rules, that we know today as the Ten Commandments. “A commandment is an order to do something.” (p.g 174). The Ten Commandments are:

1.You shall have no other gods before Me.
2.You shall not make idols.
3.You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
4.Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5.Honor your father and your mother.
6.You shall not murder.
7.You shall not commit adultery.
8.You shall not steal.
9.You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10.You shall not covet.

The Ten Commandments have taught the Israelites how to behave towards God, and one other. These laws are still important for the Jew today. Each Jew believes that each person is created by an image of God, so they have a strong sense of each person's worth. For the Jews the lesson Of Exodus is that if people will obey God and believe in his creation, then God in return will protect and support them.
