jan 18, 1813 - Treaty of Ghent 1814

Description:

Signed under James Madison, the Treaty of Ghent ended the war of 1812 and resolved conflicts between the British and Americans. The regulations of the treaty opened the area of land around the great lakes to the United States for its expansion of territory. Without the treaty of Ghent, sectional differences relating to geography and national occupation throughout the United States would’ve lead to continual conflict, which would destabilize country and make it weak.
