nov 7, 1811 - Battle of Tippecanoe

Description:

American militias successfully defeated a confederation of Native American tribes that were supported by Canada and Britain. This battle restored safety to the northwestern frontier, who had previously been under the threat of nearby Native Americans that wanted their ancestral lands back. America’s victory increased nationalism by giving frontier people a stronger sense of safety and power. It was important as it established another characteristic of America’s identity, which was that they would continue to encroach on Native American land without consent, until the tribes were left with very little.
