Description:
Due to the constant expansion westward of the American people, Thomas Jefferson deemed in necessary to acquire more land west of the Mississippi River. In order to satisfy this need, he purchased over 800,000 acres of land from France called the Louisiana Territory. The land cost only 15 million dollars, a small price for such a large parcel of land. This purchase paved the way for greater westward expansion as well as significant growth of the U.S.
