may 19, 1828 - Tariff of Abominations - 1828

Description:

The Tariff of Abominations was a tariff passed by John Quincy Adams that protected industry in Northern America. This was called the “Tariff of Abominations” because of the Southern perspective, with the negative impact that it had on their economy. This has political influence because of it splitting up the North and the South, which increased the tension between the two regions. This was one of the beginning causes of the Civil War three to four decades later.
