Description:
An abolitionist named John Brown attempted to organize an armed slave revolt. They took over the United States arsenal at Harpers Ferry. Only 22 people participated and they were defeated by the U.S. Marines. He was trying to advocate for freeing the slaves and thought revolting would draw the needed attention.
