Description:

An electric monorail system was considered by the GLC's 'Highways & Traffic Committee', with the emphasis on something that appeared to be the complete opposite of the Westway motorway. In the words of the Conservative Chair of the committee:

"whatever system was adopted it must run overhead, be silent in operation, as flexible as possible and disrupt the street scene as little as possible."
