Description:

Shortly after Federation, the government passed an act that allowed for women to both vote and stand in the 1903 election.
Surprisingly, Australia was the first country to allow women to run for a position in parliament.
Nevertheless, Aboriginal women weren’t allowed the right to vote until 1962.
