Jethro Tull was critical towards contemporary farming methods and used empirical research to find better methods. He developed equipment to drill seeds into the soil, a quicker process than planting them by hand. The agricultural revolution was occuring, which saw more efficient methods of farming being developed. This new farming tool aided in the trend towards increased food production in England.
