jan 1, 1430 - "Christe, redemptor omnium" Du Fay

Description:

A hymn in fauxbourdon style. This piece actually combines an old plainchant with the stylistic characteristics of the new English faburden style. A third, unwritten burden (fauxbourdon) may have been sung a P4 below the chant, and the tenor was often in 6ths or 8ves with the chant. A big focus on consonance--sometimes, musica ficta accidentals were added to get the desired effect.
