Description:

When the men returned they brought what Nya thought was an iron giraffe but was really an iron drill that was drilling down into the ground but it was very loud. While that was happening her mother and other women went to other village to gather piles of rock and brought them back to the village. Then the men used tools from the visitors to break the rock into gravel and with each day Nya saw the pile grow. Nya had no idea what is happening but every time she came back from the pond she greeted with the sound of the machine and the men chatting. "This wasn't the sound of water at all," thought Nya.
