The Anthracite Coal Strike was a strike put on by coal miners because of hazardous working conditions and poor wages. When negotiations failed, J.P. Morgan stepped in, and tried to convince the coal miners to return to work. The initial goal of the miners was a 20% raise, but Morgan was able to talk them down to 10%.Added to timeline:
