Galileo is forced to retract his support of the Copernican Theory and is forced into house arrest for the remainder of his life. This demonstrates how philosophers had to sacrifise their reputations for the good of science. In addition, during his house arrest, Galileo was able to make other discoveries in astronomy and physics.
