Description:

Union Victory. Major Ulysses S. Grant's army gathered at Vicksburg on Mississippi river and trapped confederate army under Lt. General John Pemberton. Union occupation of this town critical for control of the strategic river. Pemberton surrended on the 4th of July & this led to the Union controlling the entire Mississippi River and the Confederacy being effectively split in half.
