Description:

On May 30, 1854, a series of Battles that would come to be known as "Bleeding Kansas" erupted. It happened when the Kansas-Nebraska act passed, which overturned parts of the Missouri Compromise and allowed settlers to vote on slavery. People began traveling to Kansas to protest, which led to violent outbreaks that extended over a seven year period and claimed the lives of 56 people. It ended in 1861.
