jun 1, 2008 - Chapter 5: (Nya) Southern Sudan, 2008
Description:
Every year, Nya and her family would walk for three days to arrive at a camp near a big lake. They would stay there for at least five months until there was rain. They didn't stay there all year round because there was fighting between the Dinka and Nuer tribes. Now, the reader may think that Nya doesn't have to do anything since she is stationed near a big lake, but she actually still has to work. Nya must dig a hole in the (sodden) clay by the (dry) lake and collect water from the hole. Because they clay absorbed water, it took longer to collect it and the water was even dirtier than it was at the watering hole near Nya's home.
