Description:

Drug approved by FDA after successful clinical trials starting in 1999, used firstly to inhibit Tyrosine kinases to prevent abnormalities. Use to treat leukemia was headed by Brian Druker, an oncologist at Dana-Farber Institute. Later found to be useful in treating other cancers when Tyrosine kinases are prevalent.
