Battle at the Little Bighorn River in Montana Territory, between the 7th Cavalry led by. George A. Custer and Northern Plains Indians led by Chief Sitting Bull. The battle was due to the encroachment of white settlers on Indian land due to the discovery of gold in the Black Hills and the threat of relocation to Indian reservations
