Description:
One of Seattle's public sanatoriums, it was used for the treatment of tuberculosis. Among treatments were fresh air and the more extreme phrenic nerve crush where a major nerve for the diaphragm is destroyed to permanently affect it's ability to expand, thoracoplasty where ribs are removed to permanently deflate one lung, plombage with balls put into the lung cavity to affect it's ability to inflate and deflate, and pneumothorax where the lung is artificially deflated with a needle in the chest cavity.
