aug 15, 335 BC - Aristotle's Contribution to Biology
Description:
Aristotle designed the first classification system. He based his classifications solely on typological characteristics of organisms. He was the first scientist to write that dolphins were not fish, because they gave live birth to their young as well as breastfed them and had lungs to breathe. Although most of his hypotheses were incorrect, they did set up the basis for further understandings of Biology for the future.
