jun 25, 1969 - Classification

Description:

R.H Whitaker put forth a classification system for organisms which consisted of five kingdoms. These kingdoms are: Monera (primitive, single-celled prokaryotic organisms), Protista (eukaryotic single-celled organisms), Myocota or Fungi, Metaphyta or Plantae, and Metazoa or Animalia. Although this classification would go through some alterations at the time, it created the basis of classifications and created a better understanding of how organisms relate to one another.
