nov 26, 1911 - Ernest Rutherford
Description:
Conducted an experiment using gold foil that showed that atoms are made up of mostly space and have a heavy mass that is concentrated in the nucleus. Concluded that that a positive charge must exist at the center of the atom and not spread throughout the atom. The name of his model is called Rutherford Model. He was the first to discover that atoms have a small charged nucleus surrounded by largely empty space, and are circled by tiny electrons.
