Pete and his roommates throw the “Mother of All Parties” in response to Saddam Hussein threatening the “Mother of all Battles” against the United States if President George H.W. Bush sent troops to invade Iraq. They hung posters of them playing poker and smoking cigars advertising the party around campus.
A Morgantown staple also originated around this time, Pete said. Couch burnings originated and became mainstream during this time. He said “it was beyond the heyday of Sunnyside,” however, but he said it was still popular.
