feb 6, 1778 - France and the United States Form An Alliance

Description:

After the French openly joined the war on America's side by the Treaty of Amity and Commerce and the Treaty of Alliance, they supplied training for soldiers, guns, ships, and men. Without the alliance between the two countries, America might have lost the war altogether. French aid was an extreme advantage on America's side because of their extensive navy and their resources. Unfortunately, France had suffered financial debts as a result of aiding the colonies and in the end did not have America's help for their finances as they were focusing on their own situation.
