oct 17, 2013 - Head Injury
Description:
I used to teach a healthy behaviors class to students. In this class, students learned about meal planning, budgeting, cooking on a budget, coping strategies, and effective communication skills.
During a cooking demonstration, a table leaf got lodged and in my attempt to dislodge the leaf (I was under the team), I was hit in the head by the leaf and knocked out...in front of my students.
This head injury happened to be my 5th diagnosed concussion. And, the symptoms of this concussion were very serious. I spent four months at home (FMLA) and working towards a recovery with a neuropsychologist. Also at this time, I was seeing a cardiologist for a heart condition (I was passing out for no reason).
