Parisian revolutionaries and rebellious troops stormed and dismantled the Bastille. Bastille was a royal fortress and prison it symbolized the tyranny of the Bourbon monarch. This battle symbolizes the start of the French Revolution, a decade of political turmoil. King Louis XVI was soon overthrown and executed along with his Wife Marie- Antoinette and thousands of others. Bernard- Rene Jordan De Laney feared that the fortress would be targeted, requested reinforcements. He soon raised a white flag signaling his surrender, he was taken prisoner and was later taken by a mob and murdered.
