Summary of Pathology and J. Robin Warrens Life
Pathology is the study of pathogens, which are microorganisms, viruses or bacteria which can cause disease. J. Robin Warren is best known for his re-discovery in 1979. He questioned the common understanding, that stomach ulcers were caused by stress and found out that all the patients had a bacterium growing in their stomach (This was later named Helicobacter pylori). He and Barry Marshall went on to show the world the real cause of stomach ulcers, Helicobacter pylori. In 2005 he received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine and the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize for his discovery which saved countless lives. He was born on the 11th of June 1937, in North Adelaide, South Australia and is a fifth generation South Australian. He is married to Winifred Williams and has 5 children John, David, Patrick, Andrew and Rebecca, 4 sons and 1 daughter.
