b. 1958 YORKSHIRE, UK
Trained in UK in London.- specialised in cleft palates and burns surgery.
1987 emigrated with her husband to Australia.
1987 Became Western Australians first female plastic surgeon.
1991 Awarded Fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
1991 Director of Burns Service of Western Australia.
1993 was co-developer of a skin culture facility to develop a type of tissue engineering called 'Cultural Epithelial Autograph'.
2002 28 survivors of the Bali bombing terrorist attack in Kuta, Bali were treated in Perth using Wood's 'Spray on Skin'.
2003 Wood was made a member of the Order of Australia.
2005 Wood named Australian of the Year for her contribution to medicine.
2007 Wood traveled to Indonesia to assist in the treatment of burns victims of the Garuda Indonesia Flight 200.
Currently lives in Perth with her husband and four children.
