mar 31, 1415 - "Alleluia: a newë work" Anonymous

Description:

A carol written in the popular faburden style. A burden is the same as a refrain; however, in this case, the burden may be sung in a chorus of either 2 or 3 parts. The characteristics of this style were the use of 6/3 sonorities, which gave them their "sweet" sound, homophony, and avoidance of dissonance. This type of harmony became known as "la contenance angloise."
