Rock and roll legend Chuck Berry was born on October 18th, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri. He developed an interest in music at a young age though church, music classes and listening to country-western and blues songs on the radio. Charles was only a high school student when he had to spend three years in prison for armed robbery. After his release, Chuck decided to follow his passion for music as he began playing music in small nightclubs.
Upon searching for a record contract, Muddy Waters helped him find the Chess Brothers. Phil and Leonard Chess agreed to sell and produce his music, leading to Chuck Berry's first song, "Maybellene" in 1955. Chuck would later go on to release several other songs which would establish his place in rock and roll history. Chuck Berry would also become a huge influence for many other rock musicians such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley.
