Description:

In 1054, The Great Schism in which the Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox churches were separated occurred. This duel excommunication was lead by Patriarch Michael Cerularius and Pope Leo IX. The separation had slowly been occurring for centuries with the main cause being the split of Rome in 284 A.D.
