A part in the Vietnam war where a group of American soldiers brutally murdered women, elderly and kids in Vietnam. This truck hard with the Yippies and the counter-war movements in America.
Journalists were deeply interested in this Massacre and a lot of investigative journalism sprouted.
It even reached the point of fiction realism, something real had happened but it seemed so bizarre that it looked like fiction.
This can be intertwined with Joan Didions New Journalism where she went head first into the environment.
